Getting Married and Stressed Out?

Advice from Prosperity Mansion & Farm, an affordable outdoor garden wedding venue, located in Frederick Co, MD.

Planning your wedding day, should be an exciting journey, not a stressful one. From selecting the perfect wedding venue to choosing the right vendors, every decision should be a step closer to your special day. Weddings can be a rollercoaster of emotions, but remember, it's all about celebrating love and happiness. Take a deep breath, grab a glass of bubbly, and let's tackle this together!

Whether it's creating a detailed timeline, delegating tasks to trusted friends and family, or remembering to take breaks and prioritize self-care, our guide will ensure that your wedding planning experience is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Say goodbye to stress and hello to a memorable, magical wedding journey!

Our Frederick, Maryland wedding venue is here to help you navigate through the process smoothly:

1.  Start Early: Begin planning as soon as possible to avoid last-minute stress and ensure you have enough time to organize everything. It is easy to put things off until later. But this isn’t that time. Tell yourself that once you have checked off all the boxes, then its time to sit back and relax. Everything takes longer than you anticipate and may cost more, so find out early.

Also, vendors book up. Then you will be in a panic to find someone, anyone to help. Sometimes by booking vendors earlier rather than later you may be able to get a good deal. Once wedding season is in full swing, delays from gowns to invitations may happen. Most vendors will accept a deposit to secure your date and allow payments.  They can get inundated with weddings, so do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today. There so many reasons to start early. These are simply a few.

2. Set a Budget: Determine your budget early on and stick to it to avoid financial stress later on. But we realistic too. Do not try on dresses that are out of your budget. Do not go to wedding venues that are too expensive from the get go. See which venues and vendors will set up payment plans. Many will be interest free. Ask if there are any off-season discounts. For example, at Prosperity Mansion & Farm, July and August are our off-season times and we are happy to give discounts to couples. Consider a weekday, that is becoming very popular for budget friendly couples.

3. Delegate Tasks: Don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends. Delegate tasks to lighten your load and make the process more enjoyable. However, when delegating give timelines when you need things done by and tell them that you need a detailed report of what was accomplished thus far. Likewise, you need details of what still needs to be done and a timeline of when that will happen. The Maid of Honor (MOH) should be a very responsible person that will help you navigate through all of this. Being the MOH isn’t just about being pretty is a serious job and someone that you know is responsible and organized is a must.

4. Stay Organized: Keep track of all wedding details, appointments, and deadlines in a planner or spreadsheet to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Setting dates to have things accomplished by is crucial. Maybe even have your MOH as a backup. CC each other all details and reminders. Prosperity Mansion & Farm is here to offer suggestions leading up to and on your wedding day.

5. Take Breaks: Remember to take breaks from wedding planning to relax and recharge. Self-care is essential during this busy time. Actually, schedule a massage, pedicure, manicure, yoga and or anything that helps you to get relaxed and centered.

6. Communicate Openly: Keep the lines of communication open with your partner to ensure you are on the same page throughout the planning process. Give him tasks, especially his own part of the wedding party. Make sure that your wedding venue and all vendors are available to answer questions and help point you in the right direction.

7. Focus on What Matters: Remember the reason you are getting married and focus on the love and commitment you share, rather than getting caught up in minor details. That doesn’t mean that details are not important. However, pick your battles and once the wedding day is here do not stress over what hasn’t happened if its truly to late. Just smile and let it go. It’s party time!

8. Hire Professionals: Consider hiring a wedding planner or other professionals to help alleviate some of the stress and ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day. Ask your wedding venue who they recommend. They see wedding planners and day of coordinators all the time. So, they really know who is good and who is not. Trust them with vendor recommendations.

9. Practice Mindfulness: Take time to practice mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing or meditation to stay calm and centered during stressful moments. There is a Google feature, called “Calm” that has relaxing pods and music.

10. Enjoy the Process: remember that wedding planning is a special time in your life. Try to enjoy the process and focus on creating beautiful memories with your partner.

11. Celebrate the Wins: Don't forget to celebrate the milestones along the way. Take time to enjoy the planning process and celebrate each accomplishment.

By following these tips and staying organized throughout the process, this will help to ensure a stress-free wedding planning experience and enjoy the moments leading up to your special day. Remember to take breaks, delegate tasks, and focus on what truly matters - your love for each other.
